Don't Call Yourself An Adrenaline Junkie If You Haven't Completed These 8 Thrilling Rides!

Are you or your friends an adrenaline junkie? Maybe you haven’t been trying out new things for a while now, or you simply need some excitement in your life? It’s time to step up to the challenge! 😎

We have a lot of good things going on at home, so you don’t have to burn a hole in your pocket trying to experience some thrills overseas; we have them right here in Malaysia! LaceyBunny team has recently visited Sunway Lagoon theme park, and we only managed to complete 5/8 rides on this list because we chickened out. 😂

Out of these 8 heart-pumping, palm-sweating rides, how many do you think you can complete? 😏

1. Malaysia’s Very First Bungee Jump

Of course the first on the list has to be the most exciting one! This bungee jump is Malaysia’s very first bungee jump, located within the “Extreme Park” section of Sunway Lagoon theme park and over the longest pedestrian suspension bridge in the world at 428 metres! 😭 Take the ultimate leap of faith by falling (or jumping, whichever you prefer) off a 22-metre-high platform, feeling weightless for a few seconds.

If you scream on your way down, we promise we won’t judge you. 😇 There are two options for bungee jumping: the “wet touch”, in which your head will touch the surface of the water (your bungee jump takes place over a lake, by the way), or the regular, non-wet bungee jump.

Note: This is a pay-per-ride activity which is not included under the regular admission fee.

2. Launch Yourself Skywards With G-Force X

Asia’s highest slingshot ride, G-Force X is otherwise known as the “reverse bungee”. Why, you ask? Well, on the G-Force X, you will be propelled skywards from 0-120km/h in just two seconds. 😮 It’s one thing to be driving that fast, horizontally, on flat ground, with seatbelts, but to be launched skywards?

What about the irrational fear of the capsule breaking off and you just fly off into the sky? No? You don’t have that fear? It’s just us then. 😅 Anyway, the G-Force X isn’t a solo ride; there are two seats to its capsule, so you’d have to go in a pair. At least you won’t be alone on this crazy journey though.

Note: This is a pay-per-ride activity which is not included under the regular admission fee.

3. Malaysia’s Longest Flying Fox

Yeah, we know. After looking at the Bungee Jump and the G-Force X, the Flying Fox seems kind of tame, right? But then you can’t not let your poor heart rest! Be still your beating heart. 😎 This Flying Fox is Malaysia’s longest flying fox at 206 metres across Sunway Lagoon theme park, so it isn’t like it’s entirely not thrilling.

On the way from one end to the other, zip past a “volcano”, and glide over the Surf Beach, where you’ll see swimmers, kayakers, and boaters all going about their own activities. Some mischievous swimmers may even splash water at you as you pass them, so there’s an extra “perk” of the ride if you’re “lucky”! 😄

4. The World’s Largest Vortex Water Ride: Vuvuzela

Who could forget the chant of “vu vu ze la! Vu Vu Ze La!” and the insistent buzzing it created back during the FIFA 2010 World Cup? Named and shaped after the very same African horn, the Vuvuzela at Sunway Lagoon theme park is the world’s largest vortex water ride. That’s right, guys, not just Malaysia, but the world. 👏

Basically, you’ll launch from an 11-storey tower, and then twist and turn your way through what seems like a normal slide at first. Without warning, you’ll be dropped into the funnel, where you’ll continue twisting and turning (and maybe screaming) at dizzying speeds. 🤪

In all honesty, you would not want to miss this ride out with your squad! Our team had some initial reservations about going on this ride at first, but once we screamed our lungs out on our first try, we kept going back for more! 😍

Tip: Make Vuvuzela your very first ride at 10 am, and keep going back as many times as you like before the queue gets horrifyingly long.

5. Catch Some Waves With Flow Rider

Have you always secretly (or not-so-secretly) wanted to be a surfer/bodyboarder? Well, now you can get a taste of it at Flow Rider! 🤩 Malaysia’s only surf simulator, tackle 8-foot waves with the flowboard Sunway Lagoon provides you with. With the waves constantly coming at you, it might not be that easy to control the board!

Laugh at your friends if they get washed away, or marvel at their skill if they actually manage to competently control the board. Either way, it will definitely be a fulfilling and exciting experience, especially for those who haven’t tried surfing or bodyboarding before! We witnessed even old aunties and uncles doing it, so if they can do it, what’s your excuse? Try it out! 👍

6. Drop Down Into Nothingness With Monsoon 360

Unlike other more conventional rides, Monsoon 360 is conducted… vertically. Yes. Feel the floor drop out from under you as you launch into a vertical free fall. 🤢 The preparation may be the worst part: You stand on this transparent board, with your arms crossed in front of you as you face forward. Then, you are closed in to the tube. But you still can look outside because the cover is transparent. Everyone watches you with glee. Then, a voice comes on. 3… 2… 1…! The board drops, and so do you. 🤢

For the first few seconds, all you feel is the water rushing up all around you, even into your nose. However, it quickly levels out and you enjoy a much more leisurely ride. Definitely good for torturing your friends as you watch them from outside the tube.

One of our team members actually felt her legs shaking as she stood on the transparent board, waiting for what seemed like a death plunge. 😂 But she did it anyway, what about a big round of applause for her? 👏

7. Free Fall Backwards With Kubarango

On this ride, at least you won’t have to be alone again. Conducted with a two-person regular float, you climb up to the starting point, where you will first experience a really steep drop. After the drop, the momentum rushes you up to a near-vertical experience, where you’ll feel like you’re suspended in mid-air just for a moment. 😮

Of course after that, gravity pulls you back down into a reverse free fall, and you’ll kind of just slide back down to level ground. The ride isn’t extensive by any means, but it still delivers the adrenaline rush right at the almost-vertical point. Short, but definitely sweet. 👍

8. Experience A Dizzying 360 Degrees With Pirate’s Revenge

Before you go “pfft, it’s just a pirate ship”, let us tell you that we have seen visitors throw up into the nearest available bush right after disembarking from this ride. And no, it was not a pretty sight. 😅 Pirate’s Revenge is Malaysia’s first 360-degree rotating pirate ship, so if you fancy being hung upside down and being swung both ways for a reasonable amount of time, this is definitely for you.

We would like to remind you again about the vomiting incident, so this is not for the faint-hearted. Or faint-stomached. It is an excellent challenge for your friends though, so remember to provoke the kiasu-ness within them.

Now… We Have Some Pretty Good News For You! 😎

Sunway Lagoon Promotion

From 17 August to 16 September 2018, if you visit Sunway Lagoon, there’s a RM 61 OFF Malaysian Deal @ RM 108.80, as long as you present your 🇲🇾 MyKad! (Usual price at RM 169.80.)

Furthermore, senior citizens will also be able to visit the park for free, so it will be a fun-filled day for your whole family! 😍 This discounted rate is introduced in conjunction with Sunway Lagoon’s National Day and Malaysia Day campaign, “Proud To Be Malaysian“.

Sunway Lagoon - One

Not only that, to make it more memorable, Sunway Lagoon also unveiled “One”, a metal sculpture of seven Gaurs (Indian bisons) by Sunway group’s resident artist, Infantino Fernandes. The seven bisons are all of different sizes and outlooks, yet they are united as one. This represents the unity and harmony of Malaysians, despite our multicutural background and differences. ❤

Sunway Lagoon -One

The campaign and unveiling of “One” was officially launched on 17 August, and the LaceyBunny team was on site to witness it live! 👍 This is what went down. At about 9:30 am at the main entrance of Sunway Lagoon theme park, members of the media and public gathered alongside Chan Hoi Choy (CEO of Sunway Malls and Theme Parks), Sean Choo (General Manager of Sunway Lagoon), Ahmah Nazri Tashriq bin Rahmat (Corporate Communication Manager of Tourism Selangor), Calvin Ho (Senior General Manager of Sunway Theme Parks), and Infantino Fernandes (Resident Artist of Sunway Group and Sculptor of “One”).

Mr. Sean Choo gave a short speech highlighting the significance of “One”, and then the launch was officiated by releasing baby balloons into the air. The balloons were red, blue, and yellow, incidentally 3 out of the 4 colours of our Jalur Gemilang. 🇲🇾

Jalur Gemilang

Sunway Lagoon - Silat

Traditional Dance

After that, we were treated to a welcome dance, which saw the performers mostly in army pants and a Jalur Gemilang-themed shirt. 🇲🇾 The dance was rather military-style with marches, and sharp, precise movements, with loud shouts punctuating the dance, signifying strength.

Malaysian food consisting of roti canai, nasi lemak, fried koay teow, and kuih-muih among others followed the performance, and we enjoyed the food. ❤ These food items will be available throughout the campaign period right next to Surf Beach.

Traditional games, silat, as well as traditional dances were presented next, and we got to experience Malaysian traditions on a bigger scale. All these performances will be available throughout the campaign period as well, though some may only be available over the weekends. 😊
