Baby shark doo doo doo go go go, run away from the Sharknado! 🦈🦈🦈 You may or may not have heard the news: Sunway Lagoon has been hit with a sharknado, and no one is safe! 😱 The latest attraction to feature in Sunway Lagoon’s Scream Park (cue more screams), Sharknado Alive is meant to be conquered only by the toughest, as you would have to get through the entire Scream Park and its ghastly inhabitants first. 😅
Thanks to Sunway Lagoon, we were there for the launch of this brand-new attraction, and experienced it first-hand to see what it would be like trying to survive the sharks. We’ll let you in on a secret: we didn’t make it, but more on that later, so keep reading to find out more! 😄
Sharknado Alive!

Sharknado Alive! is the world’s first Sharknado walkthrough-themed attraction, right here at home at Sunway Lagoon. Part of Scream Park, Sharknado Alive! will bring elements of terror and humour of the Sharknado movies to life. As it is based on movies, the attraction is built to also incorporate studio set-ups and green screens to create a “behind-the-scenes” kind of feeling. 😮
In total, there are six Sharknado films, and the attraction itself will also feature scenes from each of the movies, so fans of the Sharknado franchise will discover plenty of Easter eggs throughout the experience… provided you don’t scared too much to completely lose your wits first. As aforementioned, Sharknado Alive! is part of Scream Park; in fact, it takes up the entire top floor of Scream Park, and visitors will have to go through the other sections of Scream Park before (finally) reaching Sharknado Alive!. 😎

Also, for the young ones (it is not advisable for kids under the age of 7 to enter Scream Park), there are also other fin-tastic activities, such as the Shark Swim School by Titan Scuba Asia, Kiddie Show, Sharknado Blast, Sharknado Dunk Tank and Bucking Shark. 😀
Editor’s Review: We’re The Faint-Hearted
We can sum it up in one sentence: we went in and chickened out only after 5 minutes… one of our editors even broke down in tears! 😂 Thereafter, she was then jokingly called “scaredy-cat” by Mr. Harris, and Mr. Ferrante even attempted to play a trick on her during lunch time in broad daylight, in which he succeeded.
Here’s the thing: we weren’t told that to actually get to the Sharknado Alive! attraction, we had to go through the entire Scream Park first. If you’re thinking “so what? Scream la!” Uh yes, we did, and our legs also turned to jelly and our hands to ice and one of us broke down in tears because we’re really not fans of anything “horror”. 😭 If cats had nine lives and our editor was a cat, she lost all her nine lives within the five minutes inside due to being terrified. 🙀
Here’s just a general breakdown of it: there are four different sections in Scream Park, with Sharknado Alive! being the very last one. We can’t tell you what goes down in there – we chickened out at the very first section which had us scared sh*tless thanks to its abandoned mansion set up, enthusiastic “ghosts” and eerie sound effects to complete it all. 😭

But here’s what is in Sharknado Alive!. An iconic scene from each of the Sharknado movies, with very cool special effects and some scaries, of course. There’s New York subways, a tunnel, cages… but let’s not give it away too much; we’re sure you want to experience it for yourself! 😆

If you’ve watched any of the Sharknado movies, you’ll be absolutely thrilled to visit this set and relive some iconic moments. Otherwise, it’s a great experience trying to fight for your survival among bloodthirsty sharks for the uninitiated. Us? We’re just really glad to see daylight again, thank God. (But thanks to the chat with Mr. Ferrante, we’re now really curious about the Sharknado movies.) 🤔
*Note: We didn’t make it through the whole Scream Park, but Mr. Harris and Sunway Lagoon management were kind enough to take us right to the Sharknado Alive! entrance so we could still experience it ourselves, but visitors don’t get to choose – it’s all or nothing! 😭
Sunway Lagoon X Sharknado Alive!
We had the chance to speak with the gentlemen who brought this attraction to life: Anthony C. Ferrante, director of all six Sharknado Movies; and Lynton V. Harris, Chairman & CEO of Sudden Impact! Entertainment Company, the company behind Scream Park. ☺
When we asked them why they decided to bring Sharknado Alive! to Sunway Lagoon, Mr. Harris said, “Sharks at a theme park – a water theme park – it’s kind of a no-brainer,” and Mr. Ferrante agreed. 😀

Scream Park has been at Sunway Lagoon for 11 years, and Mr. Harris thought that it was time to bring something new to Scream Park. Prior to the Sharknado Alive! attraction, it was occupied by Ghostbusters instead. The Sharknado Alive! attraction will be here for at least three years, and both Mr. Ferrante and Mr. Harris are excited to see how this attraction will contribute as part of visitors’ theme park memories, and as a way to thank Sharknado fans for making it such a huge phenomenon. 😊
When asked about the concept behind Sharknado Alive!, Mr. Harris replied that he had a very simple idea in mind. As an all-day activity, people of all ages, races and religions are able to visit. Families come with young children, so he wanted Sharknado Alive! to be the kind of experience meant to scare, definitely, but not terrify. 👍

“It’s a place where many children get their first scare, and we want them to feel like ‘I’ve done it!‘, rather than getting so terrified they don’t want to come back ever again. It’s part of the theme park experience you take with you on the drive home,” said Mr. Harris. 😀

Mr. Ferrante added, “We’ve had people who say that children are terrified of sharks due to iconic shark movies such as Jaws, and now they don’t want to get into the water. But because of Sharknado, they laugh at the sharks again, and find them funny.” 😆
“It’s fun,” concluded Mr. Harris.
Furthermore, during the Nights of Fright at Sunway Lagoon this year, more jaw-some activities will be unleashed – so make sure you get ready for Nights of Fright, which coincidentally is in its seventh year. Mr. Harris also hinted at more Sharknado-related activities after this initial stage, but you’ll just have to visit Sunway Lagoon to see what goes down next! 😀
