Have you ever thought about how you’d like your wedding to be? Due to society’s norms and cultural exposure, most of us envision our wedding to be held in an indoor setting, most likely some kind of hall or hotel ballroom. The more well-to-do would go all out, perhaps even having a few different receptions in a few different venues, a la prince and princess in a smart tux and sparkly dress. That’s all great, but have you ever envisioned of doing something different besides the standard indoor wedding? Perhaps somewhere outdoors, and something that can truly represent your own love story? 😍
Well, you’re about to hear from a couple who got married in a forest, and why they loved it so much! 💕
Back To Nature
As nature lovers, Ming and Bobo first got to know each other on a camping trip. Ever since getting to know each other, they have had many sweet, memorable moments that took place in natural settings. Of course, when it came to the most important day of their lives – their wedding day – how could they pass up the opportunity to have a “natural” wedding? 😍 That was why they decided to pay tribute to where it all started: camping in the forest. In the forest where they had their wedding, a clear stream runs, and just like the course of their love, it will run pure and steady, until the end of time.❤
Trees & Greenery: The Perfect Setting
Everyone knows that the forest is a vast place, and it was difficult to pinpoint an exact place in which they would make their entrance. After all, the entrance of a couple during their wedding is their wow-moment, and it could not be missed out! Luckily for Ming and Bobo, trees were of course abundant in the forest, and they selected two trees to hang a banner proclaiming their names up, and that was to be their entry point. 🌲 Trees and greenery are our best natural companions, for it is due to their growth that we get a supply of fresh air, as well as protection from the elements. These towering trees too, played an important role as Ming and Bobo’s entry pillars, and was the perfect backdrop to their photos of love. 💚
The Wedding March
Fairy lights were strung up, and lamps were lit and hung up on trees at intervals, creating a scene reminiscent of Disney’s Tangled, which had lanterns floating through the night sky. 😍 Combining the concept of an outdoor cinema and a campfire, the happy couple danced in from their entry point, accompanied by the song none other than Tarzan’s “You’ll Be In My Heart”. The cheers and merriment pierced through the usual silence of the forest; and even the trees seemed to be celebrating and witnessing the union of their love. As it was, people and nature came together to look back on Ming and Bobo’s sweetest moments, projected to all on a screen. It was indeed like an outdoor cinema, but instead of watching a movie, they were getting to know the couple better, and toasting to a new chapter of their life – together. 👰🤵
The Dining Area
Simplicity is best, and the way dinner was served also harkened back to nature. Instead of fancy utensils and cutlery, simple metal containers placed atop banana leaves were used instead, and guests dined under the illumination of fairy lights and lamps. For placards, Ming and Bobo decided to go with DIY-ed twigs adorned with pretty little flowers, which wasn’t over-the-top, but created some sort of understated allure instead. 😊
Not forgetting about the elderly, VIP seats with actual chairs and tables were set up so that they could dine comfortably, but for the rest of the guests, makeshift benches and tables covered with tarp were prepared instead, further accentuating the “camping” experience. For their wedding cake, old friends specially baked a cake for them, which wasn’t heavy and oily but simple and refreshing, further contributing to their wedding theme of keeping it simple and natural. Last but not least, the fairy lights that wound through the trees added a hint of magic and mystery in the air, allowing all to enjoy a side of the forest one does not usually see. ❤
Personalised & DIY Door Gifts – Bamboo Cups!
How often do you get to make and personalise your own gifts at a wedding? At Ming and Bobo’s outdoor wedding styling, they stayed true to their theme, and provided the guests with an impromptu art and craft session with bamboo. When (conventional) cups weren’t in reach, bamboo is the next best option! 😁 Besides being part of the decorations, bamboo is also otherwise multi-functional, and it certainly came in handy at Ming and Bobo’s wedding. While waiting for the wedding to kick off, guests were invited to craft their very own bamboo cup, in which they would use to drink from later on. Not only was it a unique, meaningful and inclusive way to pass time, but using a bamboo cup to sip red wine from is definitely a once-in-a-lifetime experience as well! 👏👍
Forest Wedding = Fun Wedding
A wedding first and foremost brings two people in love together even more, but secondarily it also connects others, namely the guests. At a wedding, plenty of interaction between guest and guest or guest and newly-weds occur, and a lively banter contributes to the mood of the wedding. 😊 As a forest wedding, there was no need for the “usual” entertainment; instead everyone – guests and newly-weds alike – took part in leisurely activities that brought everyone closer together. As they played coconut bowling, blew bubbles and roasted marshmallows over fires, it was undeniable that a special bond had been created that night between all who were present. 💜
Otherworldly Accommodation Experience
After the wedding, there was no rush to return to the city. Instead, guests stayed the night and camped right there in the forest, sleeping in tents and hammocks to enjoy an immersive experience with nature. Perhaps most of us have forgotten, but as kids, we have had some experience of sleeping bundled up in cloth (usually a blanket). Swaddled in cloth brings us back to a time when we were held lovingly by our mothers, and that night, guests were instead taken into Mother Nature’s embrace instead. 🍃
At night, they fell asleep to the melody of humming crickets and the running river. In the morning, they awakened to the sounds of the birds chirping. By way of this forest wedding, everyone had a refreshing experience, for you can’t replicate this sort of experience in the city itself. Celebrate love, and gain an unforgettable experience – what more could you ask for at a wedding? 🌳💚
Taking A Break
Besides being integral to the couple, it is also with hope that Ming and Bobo decided to wed in a forest. Nowadays, most people are living in the concrete jungle, bogged down by the hustle and bustle of city life. With their forest wedding, Ming and Bobo hoped that their guests would have a chance to take a quick getaway from the city, enjoy the wonders of nature, and also learn to appreciate, honour, and properly take care of Mother Nature. 🌲🕊🐞
People view different things as “meaningful”, and Ming and Bobo knew that for them, it is not only through a glamorous, luxurious wedding that memories could be created. Rather, they preferred to craft their own unique wedding based on their own love story. As their guests wish them the best, they too, carry their best intentions to the guests by providing them with a memorable occasion. 💚 By having their wedding in a forest, everyone could attend – adults, kids, and yes, even pets! Instead of just bringing two people together, this wedding also brought together “life” – connecting people, animals, and nature itself. Meaningful in more ways than one, this forest wedding was definitely an eye-opening, life-appreciating experience for all. 💕
