What Is Castile Soap?
Castile soap is named after olive oil-based soaps from Castile, Spain. Castile soaps can either be in liquid or bar form, and Bath & Co.’s castile soaps are liquid. Nowadays, besides olive oil, castile soaps can also be made from coconut, hemp and castor oils – only vegetable oils are used in castile soaps, and not animal fat. However, Bath & Co. has decided to stick to the original recipe, and their castile soap is made from 100% olive fruit oil! In other words, this is a vegan product! 💚
What’s So Great About Castile Soap?
Did you know that olive oil has softening and calming properties on the skin? As Bath & Co.’s castile soap is made from 100% olive oil, it’s perfect for all skin types, even those with sensitive skin. It cleans the skin without irritating it, and can even calm problematic skin. Besides that, castile soap is not drying, and allows the skin to retain its natural oils, so you won’t end up with dry, flaky skin. 🙌
It also does not clog the pores, and we all know how clogged pores can lead to multiple problems. When making castile soap, glycerin is also retained in the process. Most commercial soap manufacturers remove glycerin from soaps in order to manufacture other products such as moisturizers. With glycerin still present in the soap, it can moisturise your skin at the same time. Furthermore, it is also biodegradable and non-toxic, making it a great choice for going green, and especially if you have children and pets at home. 👍

Thanks to Bath & Co., we got to try out some of their products, and here’s what we think of them! 😄
1. Castile Liquid Soap Hand & Body Wash: Unscented
Clean and clear, we used this as a hand soap mainly, and are pleased by its squeaky clean feeling. It removes dirt and oil pretty well, and isn’t drying at all! Plus, its pump bottle design is minimalistic, classy and pumps well, allowing for easy control of the soap amount you need. 😍
2. Castile Liquid Soap Hand & Body Wash: Lavender & Geranium
We love this as a pre-bed time body wash thanks to the calming scent of lavender! *takes deep breath and falls asleep* The scents are present and enveloping without being overpowering, and it’s actually very soothing. As the soaps do not contain SLS/SLES, it doesn’t lather a lot, but we’re all right with that. #naturalingredientsFTW ❤
3. Castile Liquid Soap Hand & Body Wash: Peppermint & Spearmint
Need something to perk you up in the morning and kickstart your day? We highly recommend this Peppermint & Spearmint body wash! Armed with two different types of mint, it releases this minty freshness into the air as you shower, and it has a mild but refreshing cooling sensation. We always feel invigorated right after using this body wash! 🤩
4. H20 Snooze Mask
An overnight deep hydrating gel mask, this snooze mask does all the work while you well, snooze. And true to its name, it hydrates the skin, leaving skin feeling more moisturized in the morning. The absorption rate of this mask is also quite strong, so you won’t feel any stickiness when you sleep. Plus, this mask is also lavender & patchouli scented, so it definitely helps if you want to catch some z’s real quick! 😴
5. Soothing Clay Mask
As clay masks go, this mask too, is good for clearing out your pores from sebum and dirt. With a refreshing orange smell, this mask smells yummy. 😋 It is made of the combination of sweet orange and chamomile. When applied, its texture is soft and smooth, making for easy and comfortable application. After we washed off the mask, the face feels clean, and it even appears to have a slight brightening effect! However, one of our editors felt that her face was a little dry after that, so maybe for those who have a dry skin type, don’t leave it on for too long! 😃
6. Chocolate Face To Toe Scrub
Okay chocolate lovers, you’ve got to get your hands on this one! It smells exactly like melted chocolate ice-cream, so if you’re a chocolate lover and love everything chocolate-scented, you’d love to scrub yourself with this sweet scrub! ❤ The scrub is effective but not too strong, making it a clean yet comfortable scrub. It can be used for face, lips and body! One of our writers thought that she had accidentally fallen into a pool of chocolate while using this! 😂
