These 7 Different Activities Will Change Your Usual Perception of Langkawi!

How many activities on the list did you know you could do in Langkawi? It's not just about the beaches! Find out now and plan your next trip there!7 min

Langkawi Island is a name and place familiar to both locals and tourists alike, being an ideal vacation destination. Of course, besides its beaches, Langkawi is also known for its duty-free shopping, as well as an abundance of eagles. Why, Langkawi literally means “island of the (reddish-brown) eagles“! In fact, there’s even a square dedicated to the eagles with a huge eagle sculpture aptly named Dataran Helang, or Eagle Square. 😀

However, there’s more to Langkawi than just, you know, eagles. As an archipelago of 99 islands, Langkawi has so much more to offer, ranging from leisurely walks to adrenaline-pumping activities.

Without further ado, let’s check out these 7 different activities that will change your usual perception of Langkawi! ❤

1) Crocodile Adventureland 🐊

Did you know? This is the largest crocodile adventureland in Malaysia, housing about 4,000 crocodiles! 😮 Can you imagine how awed you would be exploring this land full of these majestic reptiles? With different sections having different types of crocodiles and different activities to see or do, your time will never be dull there. 😄

You could purchase a normal admission ticket, or you could go for one of their four combo packages, each including different activities. Our recommendation would be Combo 3, which includes an admission ticket, guided park tour, juvenile crocodile pellet, crocodile fishing demo and a family photo with their juvenile crocodile. We highly recommend this because their park guides are very experienced and detailed, being able to answer your questions and explain to you in-depth about anything and everything crocodile. 👍

Furthermore, if you visit during hatching season (May-September), you could possibly hatch your very own baby croc (depending on whether there are eggs)! To help hatch your own baby croc, an egg will be presented to you, and you lightly knock and peel the egg till the baby comes wriggling out! Last but not least, there is also a shop available, where you will also be able to purchase crocodile merch, ranging from plush toys to crocodile skin bags and phone cases. You’ll be leaving with an unforgettable experience and a whole lot more knowledge of crocodiles! Who knows, you may just want to be the Steve Irwin of Malaysia! 🤩👏

2) SkyCab (Cable Car) 🚡

Things to do in Langkawi

This is arguably one of the best known activities in Langkawi, which is why it is on this list and you should not miss! 😍 Of course, the SkyCab itself is the main attraction, as it is the world’s steepest SkyCab, and the longest free span mono-cable car. While you ride up and down, enjoy the excellent views Langkawi has to offer, with sunlight glinting off the Andaman Sea and the little rises of Langkawi’s 99 islands. ❤

Besides SkyCab, another main attraction is the SkyBridge, which is the longest free span and curved bridge in the world. As you walk across the SkyBridge, feel the sun on your skin and the wind whipping around you – you’ll feel alive! Stop for pictures at any point, with the whole of Langkawi as your backdrop. 😍

Check out Skyle admiring the view of SkyBridge too! If you’re interested in getting your very own Skyle or other Firefly merchandise, you can log on to https://store.fireflyz.com.my/ or purchase on board. 😊

And yes, there are more activities and attractions within the SkyCab area, including SkyRex, SkyDome, SkyGlide, SkyBoutique, SkyTrail, SkyPos, SkyBistro, 6D Cinemotion, 3D Art Langkawi (3D Art Museum), Galeri Produk Langkawi, SkyAdventure Park and Time Travel. With so many things to keep you occupied, you can spend a whole day there and never get bored! 🙌

3) Jet Ski 🚤

Now what visit to the beach would be complete without any kind of water sports? May we present to you jet skiing? 😀Travel with relative ease and comfort with Mega Water Sports as you jet through the waves, island-hopping as a guide takes you on different island tours of your choice! Their most popular tour by far is their Dayang Bunting Island Tour, which takes you to 8 different islands and of course, the Dayang Bunting Lake itself. No doubt Langkawi is blessed with amazing natural scenery, and jet skiing is an excellent method to admire the scenery and different views, allowing you to take in Langkawi in all its grandeur. 😍

Mega Water Sports also has several awards and accolades under its belt, the most recent being voted as the top spot on the TripAdvisor Travelers’ Choice Awards: Top 10 Experiences – Malaysia. In other words, this jet ski is the number 1 experience in Malaysia, so this really is a must-try! This also means that slots with Mega Water Sports are usually packed, so to ensure that you get a slot and to avoid disappointment, you can only book online at their website. 😉

Worried because you’re a total newbie? Don’t be, because you’ll be travelling in a formation, where a guide will always be able to keep an eye on you and make sure you’re alright. If your jet ski is problematic, rest assured your guide will be able to get you a new one as well. All in all, you’ll be in safe hands and will have loads of fun, even if this is your first time on a jet ski (just like us!) 😇💕

4) Night Market

Wait, wait, wait. Before you scroll right past this, saying that “hello? Night markets are everywhere and you could probably visit different ones every single day of the week!”, can we just say that the food here is like… really cheap? 😁 We visited Ayer Hangat Pasar Malam on a Friday night, and got an apam balik for RM0.50 – that’s 50 cents y’all, and not RM50 as in 50 ringgit! We almost couldn’t believe it, and then we proceeded to eat all of the night market in Langkawi because why not, especially with such affordable prices? You’ll be able to enjoy cheap local Malaysia street food, including nasi kandar (with chicken! Only RM4!) and keropok lekor (5 for RM1! RM1!). 😲💕

Plus, night markets, or pasar malam is just such an authentic Malaysian experience that should be discovered whenever you travel to a different place, near or far! Just like any other pasar malam, there are also different night markets everyday here, so you can drop by different ones depending on day. Taste each discovery and learn how each food item is different from your usual! 👍

5) Sunset Cruise 🌅

Had a long day, or simply looking to relax and do nothing while enjoying the finest views of Langkawi? A sunset cruise is perfect for you. 😇 Hop on a boat or yacht by Tropical Charters, and let yourself be treated to free flow drinks and freshly-prepared barbecued food set out for you, buffet style. No cooking on your part required, only eating and enjoying the sunset views. ❤

Think about it properly. When was the last time you really had the opportunity and time to enjoy the setting sun? In the city, you probably miss more sunsets than you can count stuck at work, or you’re too frustrated stuck in the jam to pay attention to the darkening sky. Therefore, allow yourself to bask in the glory of the setting sun while you’re on the cruise.  😊

Oh, and that’s not all you can do! Have a sea Jacuzzi while you’re at it. The yacht has a net which can be lowered into the sea and trails behind the boat, so jump into the sea and get comfy in the net, which is kind of like a hammock. Lie back, cling on, whatever, and literally let the sea wash away your stress and worries. The sensation of being immersed in the sea is second to none, and we can think of no better way to end a day before heading to bed! Prefer a day cruise instead? No worries, Tropical Charters provides day cruises too! 😍

New and high-performance, you’ll definitely feel like you can be the next F1 driver while you’re on the track. 😎 There are 7 different Go Kart packages to choose from, so you can pick which suits you best. Go Karting here is also divided into a few categories, namely Fun Karting, GP Sprint Races, Endurance Races and Corporate Events. So, do you have what it takes to be a race car driver? 7) Ziplining

The best place to zipline in Langkawi? With Umgawa, of course, situated at Seven Wells Waterfalls! 😍 This means that as you zipline and fly through the treetops, you’ll be treated to spectacular views on both sides – the Seven Wells Waterfalls on one side, and the Andaman Sea on the other. At Umgawa, you get to choose from two different packages: Big Waterfall Adventure and Jungle Flight. We recommend Big Waterfall Adventure, where you will be able to spend 2.5 hours on 12 ziplines (including a honeymoon double line), 3 sky bridges and a thrilling abseil descent. 👍

As aforementioned, you will be rewarded with views of the waterfall and sea, as well as Matchinchang Peak. With Big Waterfall Adventure, there is a 80 metre highest point and 200 metre length on the longest line. Conquer your fears step by step and have the experience of a lifetime! 😁 Umgawa is not just about ziplining, though. They are an eco-conscious organisation, and are commited to preservation and conversation. That means that guides will be on hand to point out features of nature including flora and fauna, and also share a little about what they are doing to protect and preserve Langkawi, and what you can do to help as well! 💚🍃
